SPEED BRAKE POWER GENERATION USING CRANK MECHANISM
ABSTARCT :
Its a power generating device, which can generate the power whenever the vehicles run on the speed breaker. A simple method of this is spring system during the time of vehicles run over the spring goes up and down; it helps to rotate the cam efficiently. While the dynamo rotation it generates the electric DC power, we can store it by battery. Also we can use it as AC supply with the help of inverter. A system embedded in a road surface generates power from the passage of motor vehicles. It activates only when vehicles with axles overpass it in the prescribed direction. This project is designed with speed brake arrangement, Spring, piston, Cam, spur gear, flywheel, and dynamo arrangement. Here we are using the speed breaker arrangement, below the arrangement we are placing the cam. When the vehicle cross over the speed breaker the setup goes down to push the spring and cam in downward motion. This downward motion is converted to rotary motion through cam. Cam is connected on the same flywheel shaft which transmits the rotary motion to another shaft. The rotary motion is given to the gear arrangement in which the dynamo is coupled on it, so the dynamo is rotated and generates the electrical power. When the dynamo rotates the output DC voltage is stored in the battery. An inverter is connected to the battery to convert DC to AC. From the inverter a CFL is made to glow.
DISADVANTAGE :
? The power generation is less.
? Maintenance cost is high.
? Wear and tear is high.
? It May not work properly in rainy season.
? We have to check mechanism from time to time.
? In this mechanism there is no continuity in power production and very low efficiency.
ADVANTAGE :
? Pollution free generation.
? Simple construction, mature technology and easy maintenance.
? No manual work necessary during generation.
? Energy available all year round.
? No fuel transportation problem.
? No consumption of any fossil fuel which is non-renewable source of energy.
