A STUDY ON LABOUR WELFARE TOWARDS FOOD INDUSTRIES
ABSTARCT :
Labour welfare has emerged as a critical aspect of industrial growth and sustainability, especially in sectors that are labor-intensive such as the food industry. The food industry plays a vital role in the economic development of any country by providing employment to a large segment of the workforce and contributing significantly to the GDP. Given the nature of work in food industries, which often involves manual labor, repetitive tasks, and exposure to varying environmental conditions, the welfare of workers becomes a primary concern. Labour welfare encompasses a broad spectrum of activities, facilities, and services designed to improve the well-being, health, safety, and morale of employees. It aims not only to safeguard the rights and interests of workers but also to enhance their efficiency and productivity by creating a supportive work environment.
The importance of labour welfare in the food industry can be traced to the challenges faced by workers such as long working hours, physically demanding tasks, inadequate rest periods, and health hazards related to hygiene and food handling. These factors necessitate the implementation of comprehensive welfare measures including proper sanitation, health care, recreational facilities, education, and financial support.
